Wiskundehulp

Free Dutch math site with step-by-step calculators, simulations and practice questions for vmbo, havo and vwo students.

Introduction

Wiskundehulp is a free Dutch-language website that pairs step-by-step math calculators with level-specific worked examples and practice questions for vmbo, havo and vwo pupils.

What is Wiskundehulp?

Wiskundehulp is a browser-based math help site for the Dutch school system. You either pick a calculator from one of 18 tools, or type a short math question with numbers into the "stel je vraag" box, and the site returns the answer together with the intermediate calculation steps rather than the result alone. Every page carries examples split by school level (vmbo, havo, vwo) and links onward to practice questions. The site is written and built by Abdur Rehman, its founder, and formulas and exam requirements are checked against Examenblad.nl and the SLO curriculum; the homepage was last updated 24 September 2026.

What makes Wiskundehulp stand out?
  • Steps are always shown — a sum such as 8 × 2 + 12 is broken into 16, then 28, and the page explicitly contrasts the correct 28 with the common wrong answer 40.
  • Level switch in the header — the "Ik zit op" control filters examples to vmbo, havo or vwo; several tools are marked havo/vwo only, including the ABC-formule, normal distribution, systems of equations and derivatives.
  • 18 calculators in four hubs — getallen (percentages, fractions, GCD/LCM, scale), algebra (linear equations, quadratic equations, systems, exponential growth, derivatives), meetkunde (Pythagoras, sine/cosine/tangent, area, cylinder volume, solids) and statistiek (mean/median/mode, standard deviation, normal distribution).
  • Simulations — change a value and see the effect for parabolas, linear functions, Pythagoras, SOS CAS TOA, exponential growth, tangent and slope, and the normal distribution.
  • Practice with explanations — answer a question, read the explanation, or run the set as a mock test; topics run from percentages and fractions to area, volume, mean and division with remainder.
  • Four general calculators — an online calculator that respects order of operations, a scientific calculator (sin, cos, tan, square root, log, π, degrees by default), a graphing calculator that plots f(x) and lists a table of points, and an integer-division tool returning quotient and remainder.
  • Exam 2027 syllabus pages and guides — per-level syllabus coverage for vmbo BB/KB/GT, wiskunde A and B at havo and vwo, a printable formula overview, plus guides on which calculator may be taken into the central exam and the difference between wiskunde A and B.
Who should use Wiskundehulp?
  • vmbo pupils (BB, KB, GT): check homework sums on percentages, scale, area and Pythagoras and see where their own working went wrong.
  • havo and vwo students in wiskunde A or B: work through quadratic equations, exponential growth, derivatives or the normal distribution with the intermediate steps visible.
  • Parents and tutors: verify a child's answer quickly without doing the arithmetic by hand.
  • Exam candidates: read the 2027 syllabus pages per level and the guide on permitted calculators before the central exam.
What can you do with Wiskundehulp?
  • Homework checking: enter the numbers from an exercise and compare your answer with the step-by-step output, including the point where the calculation diverges.
  • Concept exploration: drag a value in a simulation to see how a parabola, growth curve or normal curve reacts before touching a formula.
  • Test rehearsal: run a practice set in test mode and read the explanation after each question.
  • Exam preparation: work through the syllabus overview for your level and check which calculator is allowed.
How does Wiskundehulp work?

Every page follows the same six-step order: learn, understand, calculate, see the steps, practice, continue. You first get the short answer or the formula, then the calculator itself, then a worked example at vmbo, havo or vwo level, followed by practice questions and links to related tools or guides.

Wiskundehulp is free. No account is required and the calculators carry no paywall.

FAQ
Is Wiskundehulp free?

Yes. Every calculator and guide is free to use, no account has to be created, and the site states there is no paywall on the calculators.

Which school levels does Wiskundehulp cover?

Examples are split across vmbo (BB, KB and GT), havo and vwo, and only shown for a level when the topic appears in that programme. Use the "Ik zit op" selector in the header to see the example for your level.

Can I type a math question as a sentence?

Yes. On the "stel je vraag" page you type a short math question containing numbers, and the site routes it to the matching calculator; the answer comes from that calculator rather than from a guess.

Does Wiskundehulp cover the 2027 exam syllabus?

The site publishes syllabus coverage for the central exam 2027 per level, including vmbo, wiskunde A havo and vwo, and wiskunde B havo and vwo, with a separate guide on which calculator may be brought to the exam.

Is there a formula overview I can print?

Yes. A single page collects all formulas used across the site and is formatted for printing.
