Keycaps AI is a studio-first web app for designing AI-generated custom keycap concepts, publishing interest-check pages, and exporting handoff packs before production.
Keycaps AI is a browser-based tool that takes a user's layout, profile, material, legend style, colorway, and theme prompt as input and produces AI-generated keycap set renderings, shareable interest-check pages, and downloadable handoff packs. The platform runs entirely on the web and is developed by the Keycaps team.
The workflow follows a four-step loop: Generate → Publish → Share → Waitlist → Export. First, the user configures layout, profile, material, legend, and colorway plus a free-form theme prompt. The AI then generates keycap renderings. Users inspect the preview and publish a public interest-check page. After sharing the link, responses are collected via a waitlist. Finally, a handoff pack can be exported.
Keycaps AI operates on a freemium model — basic generation and publishing are free, while premium features (such as unlimited handoff pack exports or higher-resolution renders) may require payment. Specific tier names and prices are not disclosed on the site.
Unpublished designs are private to your account. Only designs you explicitly publish become public in the gallery.
It creates a dedicated shareable page with the render, specs, and a waitlist button. The page is publicly accessible and can be linked from social media, forums, or email.
All generated images are stored on Keycaps’ CDN (cdn.keycaps.dev). They are not automatically deleted but can be managed from the dashboard.
Yes. Every public interest-check page includes a “Remix” button that opens the Designer with the same prompt and settings, allowing you to modify and republish a new version.
The ZIP file includes high-resolution images of the set, the original prompt used, a structured specification sheet (layout, profile, material, legend, color palette), and a handoff draft document intended for manufacturers.
