Carbikly

The company car's own tax arithmetic: the benefit in kind, the driver's tax, the employer's Class 1A and the mileage, worked from the list price, the CO2 figure and the rates HMRC publishes

Introduction

Company car tax calculator: the benefit in kind, the driver's tax and the employer's Class 1A, worked from the list price and the CO2 band

The benefit in kind from the P11D value and the CO2 band, the tax the driver pays on it at their own rate, the employer's Class 1A on the same figure, the advisory fuel rate for the engine, and whether the cash allowance would have left the driver better off. You type the list price, the band, the fuel and the rate; the sheet works HMRC's own steps in front of you and asks for nothing else.

Built for one benefit, and it shows in the fields

Carbikly has no lease quotes, no finance module, no road tax and no payroll, and none of them is coming. Each field on the screen earns its place because HMRC's company car arithmetic cannot run without it: the P11D value, the CO2 band and the electric range, the fuel type and whether the diesel meets RDE2, the capital contribution up to its cap, the private-use payments, the days the car was available and the driver's rate.

The four sums behind every company car decision, worked from the car's own figures at HMRC's own rates
  • Worked from the P11D value and the CO2 band, not guessed from a monthly figure. The list price with accessories, less the capital contribution up to its cap, times the appropriate percentage for the band and the fuel, reduced for the days the car was not available and the private-use payments. Change the band and the driver's tax moves while they are still choosing between two cars, which is when the number matters.
  • What the driver pays through the code, and what the employer pays in July. The same cash equivalent taxed at the driver's rate, printed per month the way it reaches the payslip, beside the employer's Class 1A on the same figure. One sheet, both sides, so the offer letter and the P11D(b) are worked from one number rather than two.
  • The advisory rate for the engine, and the days the forms are due. Business miles at the advisory fuel rate for the fuel and engine size, or at the electricity rate for a company electric car, and the approved rate for a private car; the P11D by 6 July and the Class 1A by 22 July. Pro keeps the cars and the drivers those figures are worked from and reminds you before each date.
The free tools

Each sheet works from what the driver or the fleet manager already holds: the P11D value on the quote, the CO2 figure on the V5C, the fuel type, the driver's tax band, the business miles. Type those in and the appropriate percentage, the cash equivalent, the tax through the code, the Class 1A and the mileage at the advisory rate rework themselves as you go, with no sign-up standing between you and the number. What Pro adds is the fleet behind the sheet, each car and each driver kept with their dates, and the P11D figures worked each April.

  • Company car tax calculator: The benefit in kind, the driver's tax and the employer's Class 1A from the P11D value, the CO2 band and the fuel type, HMRC's eight steps on the page.
  • Company car mileage rates calculator: The advisory fuel rate for the fuel and engine size, or the electricity rate for a company electric car, applied to the business miles.
  • Company car allowance calculator: The cash allowance after the driver's tax and National Insurance against the tax on the car, for the driver and for the employer.
  • Electric company car mileage rates calculator: The advisory electricity rates for a company electric car, home and public charging, and the approved rate for a driver's own electric car.
Carbikly Pro

The answers are free forever. Pro turns them into the fleet's own record: every car with its list price, CO2 band, fuel type and the dates it was available, every driver with their rate and their private-use payments, the benefit in kind and the Class 1A worked for each car each April, the 6 July and 22 July dates with reminders, and clean exports for payroll and the accountant. £14 a month for the whole fleet
