Papped: Disposable Event Camera

Papped is a digital disposable camera and camcorder for events.

We built Papped for weddings, parties, college events, birthdays, trips and pretty much any event where you want everyone to capture the moments happening around them.

The idea is simple. The host puts up a Papped QR code. Guests scan it with their phone and instantly get a camera. They can take photos or record videos throughout the event. There is nothing to download, no account to create and no login to remember.

Everything they capture lands in the organizer's own Google Drive as it is taken, and appears in a shared event gallery.

Guests can make their photos and videos more fun with built-in looks and templates, including Polaroid, Black & White and Cinematic, along with stickers and custom watermarks. This also gives events, brands and creators a way to give all the content a consistent look.

But one thing we really wanted to do differently was privacy.

Photos and videos from a wedding, birthday or private event can be incredibly personal. We don't think the default should be uploading everyone's memories to another company's servers and keeping a copy there. Papped is designed around giving the organizer control of their media rather than building our own collection of people's private event photos and videos.

We also wanted to bring back what made disposable cameras and old camcorders fun in the first place. People capture different things when they aren't worrying about making everything perfect. The blurry photo, the terrible selfie, the random dance floor video, the person laughing in the background and the completely chaotic 10-second clip can end up being the memories you actually want to keep.

Papped takes that feeling and puts it on the device everyone already carries.
