CADCraft is a free, open-source computer-aided design application for accurate 2D drafting and technical documentation. Built from scratch in pure Rust and GPU-rendered, it offers an AutoCAD-style workflow without subscriptions or account registration. The software is designed for architects, engineers, students, educators, makers, and technical designers. Its command-line interface supports familiar tools such as LINE, PLINE, CIRCLE, ARC, RECTANG, OFFSET, TRIM, FILLET, HATCH, and DIMLINEAR. Users can work with absolute or relative coordinates, distances, and angles, while object snaps, polar tracking, orthographic drawing, autocomplete, command history, aliases, and repeated commands help improve precision and efficiency. CADCraft includes tools for creating and editing lines, polylines, circles, arcs, rectangles, polygons, ellipses, splines, text, and construction geometry. Drawings can be organized with layers and enhanced with associative dimensions, multileaders, tables, hatches, paper-space layouts, and plotting features. The application runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, and the web through WebAssembly. It supports DWG and DXF workflows and can export designs to PDF, SVG, and PNG. Released under the MIT or Apache-2.0 licenses, CADCraft encourages inspection, contribution, and customization. Its distinctive advantage is built-in automation for AI agents. Through MCP, JSON control, and a headless CLI, users and agents can create drawings, inspect entities, render screenshots, convert files, and verify results. Although still in active development, CADCraft is a promising free alternative for learning, technical drawing, scripting, and AI-assisted design.
