blogwriter

macOS app that reads your site once to brief, research, and write blog posts on your own Claude subscription, never shipping an untraceable figure.

Introduction

blogwriter is a macOS desktop app that turns a topic plus a connected website into a researched, fact-checked blog post, running the writing step on the user's own Claude subscription rather than a hosted API.

What is blogwriter?

blogwriter is a local blogging engine for macOS that takes a topic and a connected website as input and produces a finished, interlinked post as output. It reads the site once (a sample run read 22 pages of thegympilot.com) to generate a brief, then runs research, drafting, an AI-tell lint pass, and figure verification. The writing model runs through your own Claude Code subscription, so no API key is required, and the engine itself runs on localhost:4321 on your laptop while only the static marketing page is hosted.

What makes blogwriter stand out?
  • Site-grounded briefs — connecting your site produces a brief written from its own pages and wording, and any edits you make to that brief persist.
  • Traceable numbers — a dedicated "prove every figure" stage traces each number back to a source; if a figure can't be traced, the run stops instead of shipping it.
  • Negative claims are listed too — the brief records what the post is not allowed to claim, so unsupported statements are excluded before drafting.
  • Local model execution — drafting runs on your Claude subscription on your Mac, with no API key issued and no drafts leaving the machine.
  • Credential containment — your CMS token stays on the laptop that typed it and is never sent anywhere.
  • Guarded git behaviour — blogwriter never runs git add -A; only the post and its own assets are staged.
  • Local preview gate — a draft is never put online by itself; preview is served on localhost and sharing is a separate second click.
  • Eight-stage pipeline — reader's question, research, draft, AI-tell lint, prove every figure, diagrams, interlink, publish; only model judgment is LLM-driven, the remaining stages are plain code.
Who should use blogwriter?
  • Local-service owners — gym, studio, and clinic operators who need comparison-style posts such as "best gym management software in India" written with amounts, tiers, and trial terms traced to sources.
  • Solo content marketers — people writing a company blog without a research team, who need a brief, draft, and verification pass from one connected site.
  • Founders and indie publishers — anyone who wants posts drafted on an existing Claude subscription rather than paying for a separate hosted writing API.
  • High-volume publishers — teams on the Done For You plan who want a post a day without touching the tool.
What can you do with blogwriter?
  • Small business owners: connect your site, give one topic, and get a researched post whose style follows the flat, second-person voice the brief derived from your own pages.
  • SEO writers: run the AI-tell lint stage to strip clichéd phrasing before publishing, then edit individual paragraphs in place in the reader view.
  • Content leads: click any image to rewrite its brief and regenerate the diagram, with undo points saved for each change.
How does blogwriter work?
  1. Download the 1.6 MB app (version 0.2.22, macOS 11 or later), drag it to Applications, and open it — it sets up the rest.
  2. Connect your site so blogwriter reads it once and writes the brief.
  3. Edit the brief or the draft directly in the reader view; click a picture to change its brief.
  4. Preview locally, then share with a second click.
Pricing

A Trial at $0 covers five posts with no card required. Bring Your Own at $19 uses your own Claude subscription and your own image key on blogwriter's platform. Everything Included at $59 uses your Claude subscription while blogwriter covers the images. Done For You at $499 delivers a post a day that you never touch.

FAQ
Does blogwriter need an API key?

No. Writing runs on your existing Claude subscription through Claude Code on your Mac, and no API key is issued. Claude is a separate subscription you supply; blogwriter's own plans differ mainly in who generates the images.

Which platforms does blogwriter support?

It is a macOS app, requiring macOS 11 or later. The download is 1.6 MB at version 0.2.22, installed by dragging it to Applications and opening it. There is no Windows, Linux, or mobile build described.

Can blogwriter publish posts automatically?

It cannot publish a draft on its own. Preview is served on localhost, and putting a post online requires a separate sharing click, so nothing goes live while you are still editing.

What stops blogwriter from inventing statistics?

The pipeline includes a stage that traces every figure to a source, and the run halts rather than ship a number it cannot trace. The brief also lists what the post is not permitted to claim, so unsupported assertions are blocked early.
