The Agents Index is a researched directory that tracks 95 AI agents across 9 categories, providing verified datasheet-style summaries of what each agent is made of, what it costs, and whether it holds under load. Every listing is researched from primary sources and re-verified on a published cadence, so the index functions as a reference you check before wiring an agent into a system.
The Agents Index is a web-based directory of AI agents and agentic tools. It compiles structured data for 95 agents across 9 categories including coding agents, voice agents, support agents, sales & marketing agents, research & data agents, agent frameworks, agent platforms, agent tools & infrastructure, and agencies & build partners. Each agent record lists pricing, API availability, open-source status, and other verifiable facts with sources. The index also features search, sorting, head-to-head comparisons, and collections.
A research process builds each listing from primary sources. Submissions must pass an automated quality gate that requires a minimum of structured fields, sourced facts, and an on-topic fit-check. Each fact is tagged with its source, and listings are re-verified on a published cadence. The index is browsable via search, category filters, sorting by newest or recently verified, and dedicated comparison pages.
The Agents Index is free to browse, search and submit to, and a listing stays free forever. One optional one-time upgrade of $29 makes a listing's outbound link permanently do-follow, and that same do-follow can be earned for free instead by putting The Agents Index badge on your own site. Monthly placement (Featured, Premium) and clearly-labelled sponsor slots are also sold; none of them change the research, the verdict or the cons.
Yes. Browsing and searching the directory is free, and submitting an agent is free. Every submission is researched and quality-gated the same way.
No. Rankings and verdicts are editorial, and the quality gate is never for sale. Makers can buy clearly-labelled placements (Featured spots and sponsorships), which never change what the research says about them.
Every listing is re-researched on a schedule. Each fact carries the source it was verified from and the verification date, and changes are recorded in the listing changelog rather than happening silently.
No. The index deliberately avoids numerical ratings. Instead, each listing shows the sources it is built from, names who it is best for and who it is not for, and lists real limitations. Any number would only measure how much research was found, not how good the agent is.
A research agent builds a sourced listing, the quality gate checks it, and if it fits the taxonomy it publishes. The maker can then claim the listing from their inbox and manage it from a dashboard.
