Lumora is a web-based service that turns a single photo of your child into a personalized, illustrated children's storybook where they appear as the hero on every page.
Lumora is a web app that creates personalized children's picture books from one photo and a few details. You upload a photo, enter the child's name, age, and interests, and it generates a complete illustrated, narrated story with the child's likeness painted consistently onto every page. Stories can be read online, downloaded as PDFs, or printed as matte hardcover keepsakes. Lumora is an independent service with a stated focus on safe, age-appropriate content and a first-story-free offer, available at lumora.kids.
Lumora packs several features that together produce a finished, listenable picture book in minutes.
Lumora is built for anyone who wants a personal, storybook-style gift for a child aged 1–12.
Lumora covers the full arc from creation to gifting and printing.
The process has three steps: 1) Tell Lumora about the child — their name, age, favorite colors, and interests; 2) Pick a theme and a moment — such as a birthday, a missing tooth, or a bedtime story; 3) Read together in minutes — a complete illustrated picture book appears on screen, with narration and PDF download. The story is written and illustrated in 1–2 minutes, with the cover and first pages streaming in as they are created.
Lumora uses a freemium model: a free first story, then three paid tiers.
Lumora's main competition comes from personalized book services that also allow you to create a starring character for a child.
Yes. Every story goes through a layered content filter tuned for young readers — no scary themes by default, no real-world tragedy, and no commercial content. Parents preview every story before sharing, and Lumora never uses children's information for ads or to train AI.
Usually 1–2 minutes. Shorter toddler/preschool stories take about 80 seconds; longer older-reader stories take up to 2 minutes. The cover and first pages stream in while the rest is being written.
Yes, in one click from your dashboard. You keep every story you've made forever, downloadable as PDFs. Subscriptions can be refunded within 7 days for the unused portion of the cycle.
Ages 1 through 12. The service tunes pacing, vocabulary, and story shape to four reading tiers: toddler (1–3), preschool (4–5), early reader (6–7), and older reader (8–12).
Only what you provide, and only as long as you keep it. You can delete any story, profile, or the entire account from your dashboard. Lumora never sells data or uses children's information for advertising, and it never trains AI on your child's identity.
