Border Times is a free web and iOS app that provides real-time U.S.-Mexico border crossing wait times from official CBP data, updated every 15 minutes.
Border Times is a decision-support tool for anyone crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. It takes live data from CBP’s border wait time feeds and displays it organized by crossing, lane type, and direction. The app covers all major crossings from San Ysidro, California to Brownsville, Texas, including pedestrian, standard vehicle, SENTRI, Ready Lane, and FAST lanes. Historical trend charts and community-powered crossing reports complement the real-time data. It is free to use and operates as a web application with a dedicated iOS app.
The app ingests official CBP border wait time data every 15 minutes via the agency’s public API. It processes this data into a browsable list of crossings, each showing current lane status (number of lanes open), wait time in minutes, and event tags. Users can tap any crossing to see more details, including per-lane breakdowns and historical trends. The community report feature allows users to submit their own crossing time with a simple form.
Border Times is completely free to use on both the web and iOS app. There are no subscription tiers or paywalled features.
The wait times come directly from CBP’s official data feed, which is based on actual vehicle processing times. However, delays can change quickly; the app refreshes every 15 minutes to keep you informed.
It covers over 40 crossings from California to Texas, including major ones like San Ysidro, Laredo, El Paso, and Brownsville, plus smaller ports like Andrade and Presidio.
The web version requires an internet connection. The iOS app caches recent data for limited offline viewing, but real-time updates need a connection.
Yes. For most crossings, the app shows separate wait times for General, Ready Lane, SENTRI, and FAST lanes when available.
