aso.best is an App Store Optimization research tool that reads live App Store and Google Play data — competitor keyword fields, Apple's own 0–100 popularity scores, daily rank tracking, multilingual listing edits and review replies — from a single browser dashboard and chat.
What is aso.best?
aso.best is a web-based ASO platform that pulls keyword and ranking data for App Store and Google Play apps from Apple and Google rather than modelling it. You paste a competitor's app or your own, and it returns every phrase the app ranks for, Apple's 0–100 popularity score, first-page difficulty, its position, and which phrases sit only in the app's hidden keyword field. It also tracks daily positions, ratings and new reviews, edits listings in 15 listing languages across 22 storefronts, and sends review replies. Beyond the site, the same tools run inside Claude, Cursor, Codex and VS Code through an MCP server.
What makes aso.best stand out?
- Apple's own numbers instead of estimates — popularity comes from the Apple Ads keyword suggestions endpoint, the same 0–100 score Apple shows advertisers, queried one phrase per call; the page publishes a side-by-side table showing where modelled search-volume tools disagreed with Apple.
- Hidden keyword field detection — because Apple indexes the name, subtitle and keyword field but not the description, aso.best marks any phrase an app ranks for that appears in neither name nor subtitle (allowing plurals and prefixes) as a hidden-field phrase, and reports "unknown" rather than guessing when the subtitle cannot be read.
- Daily tracking with alerts — positions, ratings and new reviews for your apps on both stores, shown as a line over time, with an email when a one-star review lands.
- Listing editing per language — connect App Store Connect and Google Play Console, edit name, subtitle, keywords and descriptions with the stores' character counters (for example 28/30 on a subtitle), translate in one click and save without leaving the page; nothing is submitted for review.
- Reviews, top charts and algorithm monitoring — read and reply to reviews from both stores in one place, browse top charts per country, and see a daily reading of whether the store's algorithm moved (for example "Store calm today · 6% moved").
- Assistant and MCP server — ask in plain language and the assistant runs the tools and shows every step with a link to the report; the MCP tools are
read_competitor, score_phrase and compare_apps, and runs started from an AI count like runs started on the site.
- Broad store coverage on every plan — 22 storefronts and 15 listing languages, with non-Latin scripts supported even though they surface fewer candidate keywords.
Who should use aso.best?
- Indie app developers: check which phrases a bigger competitor ranks for and which of them are soft enough to target before rewriting a subtitle or keyword field.
- ASO consultants and agencies: keep every client's app in one account, run competitor reads for pitches, and hand over client PDFs with your own logo plus API access.
- In-house growth marketers: track positions, ratings and new reviews for their own apps every morning and reply to reviews without opening the store consoles.
- AI-first teams: pull competitor and difficulty data straight into Claude, Cursor, Codex or VS Code over MCP instead of switching to a dashboard.
What can you do with aso.best?
- Competitor teardown: read a rival app such as WeTransfer and get every ranked phrase, the ones that live only in its keyword field, popularity, difficulty and your own position beside each one.
- Keyword planning: score individual phrases for Apple popularity and first-page difficulty, then use the free keyword field builder and character-limit references to assemble store-ready metadata.
- Localisation: translate and save a subtitle or keyword set across up to 12 or more languages in one pass, as shown in the example that produced "Große Dateien senden" and "大容量ファイル送信".
- Review management: read reviews from both stores in one feed, reply from aso.best itself and get alerted when a one-star review arrives.
How does aso.best work?
- Type at least two letters into the search box, and results come from the live US store; or paste any public App Store app to read a competitor.
- aso.best queries Apple's keyword suggestions endpoint phrase by phrase, then compares each phrase against the app's name and subtitle to flag hidden keyword field entries.
- You connect App Store Connect and Google Play Console if you want to save listing edits or track your own apps; reading competitors requires no connection, no API key and nothing installed.
Pricing
aso.best is freemium: three competitor reads a month are free with no credit card, the free tools (keyword insights, competitor finder, niche analysis, top charts, algorithm changes, character limits and a keyword field builder) sit outside the quota, and the MCP server is free on every plan. A separate agency offering adds every client's app in one account, team seats, client PDFs with your logo, every store key and API access; the page does not publish dollar amounts.
FAQ
Is aso.best free?
Partially. Three competitor reads a month are free with no credit card, and the MCP server is free on every plan. Public app reads need no App Store Connect access, no API key and nothing installed, so reading a competitor's keyword field takes about two minutes.
Where does the popularity score come from?
It comes from the Apple Ads keyword suggestions endpoint, the same 0–100 value Apple shows advertisers, requested one phrase at a time. It is store-wide rather than per country, while difficulty and position are the per-country numbers.
What does a popularity score of 5 or below mean?
It means no data, not low demand. Five is Apple's floor, so any string you invent scores five; a dash means Apple returned no row for that phrase at all. aso.best never displays either case as a number.
Does aso.best support Google Play?
Play keyword positions and first-page difficulty are available in the free tools, and Play apps will join daily tracking next. Google publishes no search counts, so aso.best will not show a Play volume figure — any Play "volume" you have seen elsewhere is a model.
Which stores and languages are covered?
22 storefronts and 15 listing languages are available on every plan. Japanese and other non-Latin scripts work, though the report states plainly that they find fewer candidate keywords than Latin scripts.
