Talmaara

A web-based worldbuilding and novel-writing workspace that flags timeline, character, and event contradictions in your manuscript using your own world's data.

Introduction

Talmaara is a web-based worldbuilding and fiction-writing workspace that cross-checks your manuscript against your world's own calendar and lore, flagging contradictions before readers see them.

What is Talmaara?

Talmaara is a web application that combines a manuscript editor with a structured world bible for fiction authors. It takes worldbuilding data — characters, locations, factions, calendars, events — and the text of your manuscript, then cross-references the two using what the site calls 'pure date math' to surface continuity errors. Every scene you write is dated on your world's custom calendar, and every lore entry can also carry dates, so the app can compute whether something could be true. It runs entirely in the browser (at app.talmaara.com), is free to start during its beta, and deliberately does not use AI: no AI ever reads your manuscript and Talmaara never writes prose for you.

Key Features
  • Continuity audit — Cross-checks each dated scene against your dated lore to flag after-death appearances, impossible ages, out-of-order events, and characters who are in two places at once; each flag is based on deterministic date math, not guesswork.
  • Scene Lens — For any scene, reveals which characters are alive, where they are, what they already know, and what has already happened on that scene's date.
  • Custom world calendars — Supports unique months, weeks, eras, and day lengths per world; a Universal Time Unit (UTU) keeps all calendars aligned and comparable.
  • Lore Library — Provides 13 lore types (characters, locations, factions, gods, creatures, flora, and more) with built-in cross-linking; entries are data, not just documents.
  • Manuscript editor — Organizes books into chapters and scenes, with word counts visible (for example, the demo book Embertide shows 9,129 words across 3 chapters and 6 scenes).
  • Live lore links — Drag any lore entry directly into your manuscript text to create a live link that can be clicked while drafting.
  • Interactive timeline — Lines up events, character lifespans, and eras on a single timeline, with scale from one night to ten-thousand-year ages.
  • Export — Exports your writing as DOCX or PDF, the whole book or a single chapter.
Who is it for?
  • Fantasy and science-fiction novelists who want to keep track of large casts and long timelines and catch contradictions before beta readers do.
  • Worldbuilders who maintain detailed settings with custom calendars, maps, gods, and factions and need those details stored as structured, queryable data.
  • Game masters and roleplayers who need a shared setting bible with linked characters, locations, and events to keep campaign continuity across sessions.
  • Series writers juggling multiple books in the same universe who need to keep events, deaths, and ages consistent.
What can you do with Talmaara?
  • Novelists: write chapters with scenes dated on your world's calendar, and instantly see when a character's documented location conflicts with another scene set in the same timeframe.
  • Worldbuilders: build a planet with moons, chart maps, draw family trees, and pin miscellaneous notes on a board, all tied to the same world data.
  • Continuity checkers: rely on the automatic audit to flag things like a dead character reappearing or a war happening before it's declared, without having to keep a separate timeline spreadsheet.
  • Plotters: use the Lore Library and live links to jump from a mention in your prose to the full character or location entry without leaving the writing screen.
How does Talmaara work?

First you define a world's calendar and enter its characters, locations, events, and other lore with dates and connections. As you write, each scene is assigned a date on that same calendar. Talmaara continuously compares the scene's date against the dated facts in your lore; if, for example, a character died three years before a scene or is elsewhere on the same day, it produces a flag. The comparison is pure date math on linked data, so the result is deterministic and auditable.

Pricing

Talmaara is freemium: there is a Beta plan that is $0 forever and requires no credit card to start. The Beta plan includes worlds, calendars, the interactive timeline, full lore library, lore connections, and the manuscript editor. Additional paid plans exist and are shown at talmaara.com/pricing, but specific prices are not presented on the public dashboard shown here.

FAQ
Does Talmaara use AI to write or check my manuscript?

No. The site explicitly states that no AI ever reads your manuscript, and that Talmaara never writes for you. All continuity flags are produced by date math applied to the dated, linked facts you have created.

Can I export my manuscript?

Yes. Talmaara supports DOCX and PDF export, for either the whole book or a single chapter, so your writing is never locked in.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The current beta offers a $0 forever plan with no credit card required to start. It includes core worldbuilding and writing features, and currently displays two seats left.

Does Talmaara only support English?

The visible interface is in English, and the demo content uses English. There is no mention on the page of other language versions.

Can I manage multiple worlds in one account?

Yes. The dashboard's Worlds module lets you track multiple worlds; the sample dashboard shows one world, and the sidebar lists a separate Worlds section for managing more than one.
