IELTS Writing Practice is a web-based practice environment for candidates preparing for IELTS Writing. It supports both Academic and General Training tasks and presents the writing experience in a focused, computer-based interface. Candidates can choose a prompt from the site or work with a custom question, draft their response under a timer, monitor the word count, and return to an autosaved draft before submitting it for feedback.
The evaluation workflow is organised around the four IELTS Writing criteria: Task Achievement or Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. A completed review includes an estimated band score, criterion-level observations, inline annotations, corrections, explanations, and practical next steps. The goal is to give writers a structured way to identify problems in a draft and then revise the same response instead of treating feedback as a one-off result.
The site covers IELTS Writing Task 1 and Task 2. Academic candidates can practise data-description and visual-information prompts, while General Training candidates can practise letter-writing tasks. Task 2 practice supports common essay-question formats. The simulator keeps the prompt, response area, timing information, and writing tools together so the candidate can concentrate on producing a complete answer.
IELTS Writing Practice also provides public learning resources. These include sample response reviews, writing reference material, band descriptors, and a score calculator that helps candidates understand how Task 1 and Task 2 contribute to the overall Writing result. The public samples are intended for study and comparison, while a candidate's own submitted review is kept in the signed-in account experience.
A typical practice cycle is simple: choose a task, write a full response, review the criterion-based feedback, make targeted edits, and repeat. This makes the product useful for independent practice, exam preparation, and focused revision across both IELTS test formats. The website works directly in the browser and does not require a separate desktop application.
