AnyFileKit Image Translator is a browser-based picture translation tool that reads the text inside a screenshot, photo, scan or comic page and draws the translated text back over the original image, returning a PNG at the source resolution.
What is Image Translator?
AnyFileKit Image Translator takes one PNG, JPG or WebP file at a time and returns a PNG at the original pixel size, with the translation painted into the boxes where the source text used to sit, plus a list pairing each original line with its translation. It runs in the browser at anyfilekit.com with no account and no watermark. Two modes exist: AI mode, which sends a reduced copy of the picture to a model that reads and translates it, and Fast mode, which reads the picture on the user's own machine and sends only the words it finds.
What makes Image Translator stand out?
- Two modes with different data flows — AI mode (the default) sends a reduced copy of the image, at most 1024 pixels on its longest side, to an AI model that reads and translates it and does not store it; Fast mode reads the text inside the browser, so the picture never leaves the disk and only the recognized words are sent for translation.
- Translation drawn back where the text was — each text block is covered with the average colour sampled from around it, and the translation is drawn inside the same box rather than dumped beside the image.
- Selectable models — Qwen handles free pages, while Kimi K2.6 is reserved for paid plans.
- Handles mixed-language and busy pictures — AI mode reads a page as a whole, so speech bubbles, stylised lettering and pages carrying two languages are translated line by line in context rather than word by word.
- Broad source coverage — Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Thai, Hindi and the European languages, with automatic language detection in AI mode and either Auto-detect or a manual pick in Fast mode.
- Plain output — every result downloads as a PNG at the same pixel size as the input, with no watermark and no sign-up.
- A metered free allowance — 5 pages a day, where one page equals 3000 characters of source text; an image translated in AI mode costs 2 pages, while Fast mode charges nothing for reading the picture.
Who should use Image Translator?
- Comic and manga readers: drop in a scanned or screenshotted page and get the dialogue translated inside the speech bubbles it came from.
- Travellers: photograph a menu, street sign or label straight on and read a translated PNG of the same photo.
- Anyone sent an untranslatable screenshot: error dialogs, dashboards and settings screens in another language come back with the interface text replaced in place.
- People with scanned documents: a scan is a picture with no text layer, so this tool works on the pixels where a PDF translator finds nothing to read.
What can you do with Image Translator?
- Manga and comics readers: translate a full page in AI mode, which reads each speech bubble in context and paints the English back into the bubble, then download the PNG.
- Travellers abroad: translate a photographed menu, sign or label into English or another listed language without uploading the picture, by switching to Fast mode so the image stays on the device.
- Support and IT staff: translate a foreign-language error dialog or settings screen in a screenshot and keep the layout recognisable for the person who asked.
- Document handlers: run a scanned page with no embedded text layer through the tool to recover and translate its contents, then read the original and the translation as a list under the result.
How does Image Translator work?
- Drop in a picture, or click to choose a PNG, JPG or WebP file (one at a time).
- Pick the language to translate into; in Fast mode also set or auto-detect the language in the image.
- Press Start — AI mode takes about 20 seconds, while Fast mode reads the text locally first so you can see what will come out of your allowance before anything is sent.
- Download the translated PNG, or read the original and the translation as a list underneath it.
Pricing
Image Translator is free with a daily allowance of 5 pages, where a page means 3000 characters of source text counted on AnyFileKit's side. An image translated in AI mode uses 2 pages; in Fast mode the reading step is free and only the translated text is counted. A pass costs $9 for 1,500 pages and is good for 30 days. There is no account to log in to — the receipt lives in the browser, and pages can be moved to another browser by entering the order number and the email address on the receipt.
Alternatives
Google Translate, whose web Images tab also accepts an uploaded or pasted picture and lets you copy the translated text or download the translated image; Image Translator adds a Fast mode that reads the picture inside the browser and uploads only the recognized words, and its AI mode is aimed specifically at comics and text sitting in bubbles or over artwork.
FAQ
Is my picture uploaded?
In AI mode, which is the default, a reduced copy of the picture — at most 1024 pixels on its longest side — is sent to an AI model that reads and translates it, and it is not stored. In Fast mode nothing is uploaded: the picture is read inside the browser and only the text it finds is sent for translation.
Can it translate handwriting or blurry photos?
Translating a photo works when the text is sharp and reasonably large, such as a sign, a menu on a table or a book page. Handwriting, very low resolution and heavy shadow can come out wrong or not at all, and Fast mode reports when nothing readable is found and stops without spending any of the daily allowance.
Does the translated text match the original styling?
Not exactly. The original text is covered with the average colour around it and the translation is drawn on top in a plain system font, so fonts, colours, bold, italics and effects are not reproduced. On a white document the patch is invisible; on gradients or busy backgrounds you will see it, and long translations are shrunk to fit, overflowing the box if even the smallest size will not fit.
What happens when the free pages run out?
The tool stops until the next day once the day's 5 pages are used. Pages can be topped up with a $9 pass covering 1,500 pages for 30 days. Because there is no account, clearing the browser's site data or switching machines loses the receipt until the order number and receipt email are entered again.
